Positive Evasions

nAbr gallery is pleased to announce the one night opening of Positive Evasions, featuring Sarah Luther, on Friday, December 17th, from 8-11pm. Luther’s work deals largely with the documentation of social environments and interactions. Positive Evasions considers these issues in an introspective approach, investigating the limitations of social crutches and their potentially beneficial outcomes, through her sketch book inquiries as well as a dance party performance.

Windfall: Curios and Oddities

nAbr gallery is pleased to present Windfall: Curios and Oddities, opening Saturday, December 4th, 2010 from 6:30 to 10pm, featuring Kyle Regan. The exhibition focuses on new furniture work to accompany a series of sculptural arrangements. Regan explores the chance links between natural and man made objects, while piecing through an on going investigation of geometric modularity in nature.

The growth of this series, though influenced by intuitive decision making, has over time yielded forms that might also have occurred naturally through a dialogue of abandonment and appropriation between man and nature.

Big Moon

John Riepenhoff Gathering Under the Stars
An Essay by Richard Galling

John Riepenhoff Gathering Under the Stars

nAbr Gallery is delighted to present its third exhibition “Big Moon”, opening Sunday, September 26 from 6:30-10pm. The show features John Riepenhoff’s construction of a surreal atmosphere through a series of plein air paintings generated around the optical relation to light and subsequent color perceptions. Aiding to the atmosphere is the John Riepenhoff Experience presenting “Kitchen” by Xav Leplae.

“When we create we document not only what is at our attention, we also
archive the resources that have been used to tell our story. Though
this latter aspect of expression is often obscured, its limitations
can tell us a lot about an individual’s condition and subsequently
about the position of his or her culture. This series acknowledges the
limits of an individual’s range in an attempt to shift the outer
conditions of creating into the subject of the medium.”
-John Riepenhoff

Wishwife.

nAbr gallery presents its second exhibition, “Wishwife”, opening Sunday, August 29th from 6-9pm. Featuring video and sculptural works by Sara Caron, the show demonstrates a focus on labor, practice, and consideration.
